I did try and reinstall the program with the exact same results. Jodie If needed, I am running Windows XP on a Dell Inspiron E1505 with plenty of memory and a sufficient hard drive. I have not installed any other software or hardware applications. I tried the Zone Alarm Internet Security Suite free trial for 15 days. I get the message that \u0022True Vector service is shutting down.\u0022 My windows security center informs me though that the firewall is active, but I have no Anti-Virus protection. I also can\u0027t log onto the Zone Labs website through either Mozilla or IE7. At least you know the problem is on THEIR end and not YOURS.
It's a windows 7 machine that shows no other obvious problems.

It sounds to me like maybe the firewall isn't configured correctly.

Whenever I have the firewall on, I get a 8024402C error when I try to update, and it seems to update fine when I don't have the firewall on. Essentially I added a new incoming rule which allowed all connections coming from c:\windows\System32\
there is a help page for this error but it seems to assume that the firewall I have is third party, I'm not sure how to fix it if Windows Firewall itself is the firewall that is blocking the automatic updates. I wonder why my default settings didn't already have this? The other poster that had a problem was also resolved this morning by changing a DNS setting so this thread is done unless someone else jumps in without reading the other posts which is more than likely to happen.
