27, 2017FREMONT — Marilyn “Babe” (Korshoj) Jackson, 87 years, of Fremont passed away Monday, Nov. She was born May 31, 1930, in Herman to Chris and Esther (Madsen) Korshoj. She grew up in Fremont and then lived at Chico, California, for several years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Vicki Wilcox; and son-in-law, Gale Slagle. She is also survived by stepdaughter, Le Mara (and husband, Artie) Eicke of Washington; seven stepgrandchildren; 14 stepgreat-grandchildren; and seven stepgreat-great-grandchildren. 28, 2017FREMONT — Elaine Knoell, age 86, of Fremont, formerly of Nickerson, went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, Nov. Elaine was born June 4, 1931, in Fremont to Rex and Amber (Henry) Ogard. Elaine is survived by sons, David (Joyce) Knoell of Hooper and Danny (Shirley) Knoell of Crete; daughters, Jackie (Mike) Ladd of Nickerson and Sherry Slagle of Fremont; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Survivors include: daughter, Marcia (and husband, Cliff) Smith of Hays; brother, Carrol (and wife, Dorothy) Dahl of Fresno, California; sister-in-law, Fran Steinert of Fremont; two granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be directed to Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont or the Alzheimer’s Association. Following military service, he attended and graduated with a business degree from the Spencer School of Business in Grand Island. During this time she also adopted her pride and joy, daughter Mary Margaret. Dick left Fremont at the age of 21 to move to California, but visited often to see family and friends.
Bokowski, 77 years, of Fremont passed away in his loving family’s arms on Wednesday, Nov. Larry was born April 6, 1940, in Omaha to Stanley and Marjorie (Stafford) Bokowski. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Nanette; and his beloved dog, Jax. Phyllis and Floyd lived in the same home in Upland for more than 60 years where she was an active member of the community. James was passionate about all sports but particularly loved baseball and the St. James was involved in baseball for more than 30 years while living in West Point, from Little League to Class A state championships.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon of Fremont; son, Bryan Bokowski of North Bend; daughter, Angela (Chris) Couper of Golden, Colorado; grandchildren, Blake and Brooke Bokowski and Cameron Couper. She was an active member of the church community until her death.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in English from Dana College in 1953. She was the bookkeeper for the family business, Korshoj Lumber Co., at both locations in Herman and Fremont. He is survived by his son, Jonathan Roberts of Lincoln; daughter, Carla Jo (Mike) Meyer of Hooper; six grandchildren, Sonya, Sylvia, Jared, Austin, Riley, and Marinn; one great-granddaughter, Ember; brother, Roger (Carolyn) Roberts of Fayetteville, Georgia; and sister, Kathleen (Frank) Janssen of Woodbury, Minnesota. at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont with military honors to follow at the funeral home. He moved to Omaha in 1990 with the UP Railroad and retired after 25 years. Jacob started a paintless dent repair business in 2002 which brought him Fremont many days of the week. Kahnk in October of 1970, and retired from teaching to devote full time supporting the career of her husband and nurturing their blended family of five children. He was preceded in death by his father, Lester Peatrowsky; his mother, Ella Leonard Peatrowsky Seeman; and grandchild, Jennifer Hadden. In urban areas, they are small, and in rural areas they can cover an entire small town or even a few small towns in very rural areas.Since census tracts are subdivisions of a county, we did a spatial overlay of the census tracts onto city and town boundaries using a geographic information system to properly assign each census tract to its appropriate city or town. She returned to Fremont and in 1950 moved to a farm south of Nickerson. Her faith, children, and grandchildren were her life. She sewed 300 school bags each year to be filled with school supplies and sent overseas to underprivileged children. Then he went into the United States Navy, serving 3 ½ years. Following a move to Tekamah, she was employed at Dana College and completed two years of course work toward a baccalaureate degree.
